Is everyone hearing the same thing?

"What we begin to realise...is that God is saying the same thing to this emerging generation everywhere, in their own languages, He is speaking the same message, about the call to prayer, there is a reformation in the church taking place, a new generation looking for a new expression of Church.

Younger people saying to the older generation we love you, we value you, we need your wisdom, But we don't want your structure, your programs that is killing us. We want relationship over titles, we want to see Jesus in you.
"

This revelation came out of the "Global Transformation Prayer Summit" that was held in Malaysia in September 2006. For the first time, four global networks that seek godly transformation of the church and society join forces: the International Prayer Council (IPC), the Global Day of Prayer (GDOP), the International Transformation Network (ITN) and the International Fellowship of Transformation Partners (IFTP). A fifth stream, not officially represented, is a group of emerging leaders exploring a possible Connect World liaison.

There is a new generation that is looking for a new expression of the church. We're tired of programs that is killing us. We're tired of hearing you tell us how God touched you - we want God to touch us. We're tired of hearing you telling us your experience of Jesus of yester-years. We want to experience Jesus for ourselves TODAY!

just for the floor...

i agree totally that it is really true indeed that there is a reformation taking place in the church of GOd today. But personally what exactly is "reformation" and what does it mean to me/you?

one thing that is obvious is that it is NOT a revival and it is dangerous to think that it is ...

by understanding 'reformation', we become clearer in our understanding of this move of GOd and our purpose for existence at such a time as this...any opinions?

I totally agree! Let's all get it straight then. Reformation is NOT revival.

I agree too, from what i know so far, it is not a revival but a restructuring or re-formation (from scratch) back into what was or used to be the true nature. In this context of the church, it is the re/rightful alignment of the bent structures and systems/mentalities of the church today (that has so much misrepresented the true nature of GOd's church)back into what was the original nature that God intended it to be.

As jmatariki said in the original
post, there is a reformation in the church and a new generation arising to express God in a whole new way and i believe this is so evident when we look around us in the church and all that is taking place- Worship is not confined to any particular form, young people arising to find hope and purpose in living, people acknowledging GOd in a whole new ...
and i believe that for this generation to express our GOd in a totally new and radical way, transforamtion must take place in their hearts, mentalities must be shifted to become relevant and (like j.m said) we must not conform to the old 'religious' patterns that will eventually bring death (spiritually) but rather diligently enquire like King David and adhere like Solomon to the accurate design that GOd has for us to build according to ie. express GOd and his Kingdom accurately in our lifestyle...

thank you JMatariki for bringing this topic up so that we can become enlightened in our understanding of the GOd that we serve and what He is doing in this current season, hope to see more comments...

The difference between Revival and Reformation is that: Revival comes and goes, but Reformation is here to stay.

And again anonymous expressed it rightly to say that reformation is re-alignment into what used to be right, as well as expressing God in the way that should be, i.e a whole new way.

I agree with anomynous too that the new creative expression this generation will exhibit will be more than mere form and flesh, but of life and power. This is because a true reformation is always internal - of the heart. And when the hearts are right, the expressions will also be right!

i can see that the comments are interesting, i don't wanna sound critical or anything, but was just thinking/ wondering that when we say "new generation" does this refer to only young people in terms of age?
